Chastain Board

We'd like to know people's opinions about how our Board has been these past couple of years.  Almost no one shows up to the yearly meeting and no one ever runs against them come election time so does that mean everyone is happy with what they've done with the community over the past couple of years?  I'd love to hear some varied opinions on the subject.  Thanks.  Please click the comment link at the bottom of this post to voice your feelings.  You will need to create a google account to protect against spammers.

I think we should increase the number of people on the Board. We need at least 5 with 2 being co-presidents. I think more will get done and we'll see a lot more progress than we've seen these past couple of years. How about getting a petition going since we need a 2/3 majority to increase the number on the board.

I think we should disband the whole thing !!!! For lack of interest and save some money.

I have never been able to attend a meeting because the meetings are always during the weekday, during which time I am at work. I think the meeting day/times should alternate to allow folks with off-schedules and opportunity to attend a meeting.

I think we need to vote in a new board. Nothing has happened over the last years except we finally have a good newsletter (but that is done by the newsletter committee and not the board). Someone should take up proxies before the meeting so we can vote in some people who step forward and are willing to be more active with the community. (This will also allow the people who can't attend get to voice their opinions.)

I would love to be more involved! In my 6 years at Chastain, I've never received notice of the meetings and would like to be more of an active participant in the community. This blog is a great idea, btw!

I never attended a meeting in my 3 years living here because the notices I recieve talk about budget and nothing else. If I had known the address issues, I would try my best to attend.

Our HOA is only $140. Thats nothing compared to some other communities. I would be willing to pay more if we had some ammenities like a pool or walking trails. Everything is so far away. We have lots of children in this community that need something to do besides play football on my lawn.

I agree that a meeting just to talk about the budget is ridiculous. We have so many issues that are either ignored or told that, simply, no one is doing anything about it. We need people to step forward that are willing to do the work and then get proxies so we can get them voted in. Franklyl, Tim has only been on the board a year and I think he's done everything he can do but when no one else cares. So, what are we going to DO instead of just talking about the problems?
